Location: Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd
Time: 10:30 to 2:30 on Saturday March 29th
This is a four hour hands-on workshop in reduction method linoleum block printing. Students will create a three-color linoleum block print from one piece of linoleum.
I will demonstrate each step of the process, then facilitate students’ work. By the end of the workshop the students will have a working knowledge of proper cutting and inking techniques, including rainbow roll printing, color registration, and color mixing.
I will provide everything you need to complete the project, including drawing materials, the linoleum, paper, ink and printmaking tools. Students will choose among several landscape images that I will provide, including moonlight scenes, White Birches trees, and Lakes. Students will have the opportunity to modify these basic sketches to create unique works of art, or you may bring your own sketch. The sketch should have no more than three colors plus white. The block will be approximately 4 x 6 inches and each student will be given six sheets of paper, with the expectation that they will have three to four good quality prints at the end of the workshop. The price is $80.
The class enrollment is limited to seven students, so you will receive ample individual attention. Please sign up before March 27th so I can prepare materials for the class.
